Sean Bean as Pyke Kubic is a study in stylish violence which lurks just below the suave exterior.
Chris Hemsworth and Victoria Profeta as the Phelans do a classic study of ‘average next door folks' adapting fast as 'ruthless survivors'.

. I was surprised at several mentions of this being Sean Bean’s first lead, but in many ways CA$H is his long overdue American coming out party. His slick dominating presence drives the entire film and pushes all the right buttons onscreen and off. This may even be Sean Bean’s best performance since Lord of the Rings. CA$H proves he’s worth much more than five minutes of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief or broad baddies like National Treasure and crap like Crusoe. It’s about ^(&*%#@ time!

Too bad the reviews are so positive when the film is getting so little screen time and box office  :bang: :bang: :bang:

Review:

From a cliché concept (owing money to the mob), “Ca$h” takes it someplace very strange. Instead of owning $23 thousand to the credit card company—imagine owing it to a criminal who makes it clear that the late charges will be fatal.

A small film, it does start slow, but like the payment deadline the pressure of the situation keeps growing throughout the film, putting the audience on the edge of their seat by the conclusion. The mood and genre shift several times throughout the movie, moving from an edgy thriller to a caper film to a light comedy in other parts.

Sean Bean makes for a terrifying villain, both funny and threatening with an inborn menace that explains why very few of the characters question when he gives them an order. The young couple are intriguing. Both young actors portray a likeable innocent quality that allows them to fall into a bad situation. For those looking ahead, Hemsworth is already known to viewers as Kirk’s father in “Star Trek” and is scheduled to appear later this year in the remake of “Red Dawn” and as “Thor” in 2011.

“Ca$h” is a small, low-budget movie with limited publicity, so my expectations were few when the theater lights went down. At times the pace is slower than ideal and the rushed production is apparent. It might have used one more script rewrite and just a few more scene options. More interesting than the actual movie is the basic concept behind it— that everyone does something they wouldn’t normally do for money.

It’s not the best movie of the year, but it’s an interesting change from the ordinary and definitely one that will have you questioning what you would do for a little “Ca$h.”

 :rofl

Just think...this is a forewarning of things to come as we produce a generation of young people who's primary means of communication are Twitter and texting.

That's a shuddering thought, Sable!! As if the younger generations weren't ungrammatical enough already :loopy: Most of them can't utter a complete sentence not punctuated with " you know", "like",............  :lord  Now they're constrained to express their "observations" and "witticisms" in 140 characters or less!!!  :censored: :censored:  :bang: :bang: Even that may prove too much of a strain since most have the attention span of a fruitfly and have been unable to cut the umbilical cordless.  :wellll:
