I could not be more embarrassed but in a sitting-here-smiling and all glowy way! Re. the last picture, I have that jacket!!!!! I'm an odd size because I'm tall so I have extra long arms and extra long legs and as there are few places you can now or have ever been able to get things for tall women, I have always worn men's clothes in one form or another especially jackets and trousers.
So, a couple of years ago I bought a stunning wool jacket with zip detail and an asymmetric front by a designer called William Hunt and have kept an eye out for other things by him as I trawl through the rails in TKMaxx - a stunning cable wool cardigan found its way to me before Christmas - £400 reduced to £70. His clothes are really expensive, worn by celebrities and footballers, sold in Harrods etc. but they end up in TKMaxx and there was this jacket - last February - perfect size for me, looked amazing and the corduroy shoulder pieces distract the eye from the fact that I haven't got the shoulders to quite fill it out as women usually don't.
The thing that was the issue is that the original label said £495 ($750) which is astonishing and every time I got it out of the wardrobe to wear it, that price just freaked me out a bit so I wore something else that I wouldn't be scared about. Anyhoo, as I was just about to buy a cheap jacket to wear instead - a family trait as my mother bought a Burberry raincoat and was then (still is) too scared to wear it and bought an identical cheaper one in Marks and Spencer and wore that instead! - I decided to think of it as the £80 jacket I actually paid for instead of its real value and there will always be others in TKMaxx to replace it so... Mine's anthracite and with his being brown, I just thought it was leather maybe and poss. a Barbour, it's not until I wore mine - Tuesday, for the first time - that I just paid that bit more attention like the sleeves and the pockets aren't quilted, and why it fits so well is that it is elasticated under the belt but only at the back, and the lining is an absolute wow!
