Speaking at a Broadcasting Press Guild lunch in London, Stephenson revealed that Sean Bean, Anna Maxwell Martin and Stephen Graham will be joining the cast of the next series of Jimmy McGovern's Accused.

Quote
The series follows previous drama series by McGovern, including anthology series The Street and Moving On. Each of the six dramas follow a different character as they await their verdict in court, and tells the story behind how they find themselves accused. A second series of four episodes has been commissioned for broadcast sometime in 2012.

The second series will star the likes of Sean Bean – as a transvestite who commits a crime of passion

Sean Bean plays English teacher Simon, whose alter ego Tracie and unconventional quest for love entangles him in an affair that leads inexorably to a terrible crime of passion.

“I’ve wanted to work on a Jimmy McGovern drama for a while and I think this cracking script really delivers a powerful, emotional drama for the audience." - Sean Bean

At least once in every actor's career it seems that they do a cross-dressing role.  Done a lot of good for a lot of careers. I love these short 4 and 6 episode drama series, though, cuz they are reliably good quality and the episodes are usually close on to 2 hours each.

Ben Stephenson, Controller of Drama Commissioning at the BBC, said Bean would feature in the third episode of the four-part show.
He told members of the Broadcasting Press Guild: "He's playing a transsexual, a brilliant story, untold I think on mainstream television".

Is that an actual photo or a manip?  If real, then:

He would have made a very fetching woman when he was younger; not so much now (though I've seen worse).

Who the hell chose that outfit - his last wife?  yarg.

Sorry to see the gloves; with his long fingers, his hands would look quite nice with long nails and suitable polish . . .

Do you suppose he had say-so on the hair color and boob size?  Is he channeling his personal interests?

On a more serious note; I assume he's the one who ends up in the dock.  I hope the writer has created more than the stereotypical transsexual character that proliferates in novels and TV.  The idea that all transsexuals must be mentally unstable is getting a bit tired.

Okay - decided the best plot would be if he goes after the wife (in the couple) as Simon - and after the husband as Tracie.  That would be an unconventional quest for love . . .

That's not a manip. That's definitely his legs.

He looks pretty good as a woman.  I would love to see the show but we don't get BBC TV over here.

I agree.  Those have got to be his skinny thighs.

Not that this is my ideal look for him, but I would love to see the show.  He sort of looks like a tarted up Martha Stewart to me.

I get BBC America.  Would it be shown on that?

 :mutley: No manips, definitely!

And thank you Daily Fail for dragging up all that stuff about the exes. Why is it important to mention that in an article about a new television drama he's in?

Because it's the Fail . . .

And may I just say - SUPPORT BRA, SEAN.  Your tits are hanging low on the horizon, champ.

Looks pretty good in red, though!

(and it looks like he's having a blast, too).

So when he was in costuming I wonder if he took his hands and said, I really like this much boob.  That is the size I like best. And then they made him a cup size based on that.

Just want to start out by saying how commendable it is to see him in a role that challenge the stereotypical male role. He's looking great and that smile does not make it any worse.

However, the childish part in me cant stop laughing.

How hairy is his chest normally?  I'm just trying to work out whether he's had anything waxed....

I once dated a transsexual for a while (although I didn't know he was one in the beginning).  After we split up, we stayed friends and he used to tell me that he needed to wear 3 thongs to keep himself in check so he could wear mini-skirts.

I'm now having 3-thong Sean visions....  :backout
