Outshining her fellow Legends! Ali Larter steals the show thanks to eye-catching silk gown at television series premiere

Quote
The Heroes favourite certainly added an extra much needed dose of feminine charm to the event.

It could have easily been overwhelmed by the testosterone in the room thanks to beefcake actors Sean Bean and Morris Chestnut.

The hunky 55-year-old Yorkshire pudding was looking in fine form indeed in a black suit and grey shirt, though he lost style points for caving in and following the current tieless trend.

'Legends': Ali Larter on Crystal, her relationship with Martin and more
http://www.examiner.com/article/legends-ali-later-on-crystal-her-relationship-with-martin-and-more

Quote

Quote
“Martin takes it very seriously, down to the details of what he eats, what he drinks, what he wears, women he might go out with. It’s all part of the job,” Bean says.
Bean, best known for his roles in Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings, usually plays characters who exude power, masculinity and a gritty, roguish nature. As Odum, Bean plays a gruff antihero, but his legends can be a stark contrast. Some are polished, funny or quirky, and it’s a treat to see Bean so multifaceted.
On occasion, I’ve had to switch accents and mannerisms midscene,” says the charming Englishman. “You have to change everything and it’s very effective when it works — when you’re actually seeing someone change character right in front of your eyes — rather than seeing a character in one scene, and a different character in another.”

What appealed to Bean about the role was the opportunity to become a chameleon and play a variety of characters. “I’ve not really seen anything done like this — maybe on film, but I have not seen it done on television. Where an actor has played multiple roles as well as the role he’s playing ... it’s quite unique.”

Sean Bean very much alive in 'Legends'
Quote
Brit Bean, who stars in a new thriller, TNT's “Legends,” assured us that death isn't imminent for his lead character of Martin Odum. “I'm going to be in this for a while,” Bean said at the start of the show's press session.
Bean looks forward to spending a long time with the show, he said, describing it and his role — a deep-cover operative who takes on different identities — as “fascinating.”

He added, “I wanted to work with Howard Gordon ('Homeland') because of his track record, pedigree.”

As for the role, Bean said he was attracted to the aspect of “playing multiple characters, which I have never done before.”
For instance, the second episode focuses on the kidnapping of a family by Russians — and the dangerous secret the dad has been keeping. For that, Bean dons an entirely different identity, that of a smooth, suave, sophisticated ladies man.

“I thoroughly enjoyed that because I drove big nice cars and wore Gucci costumes and went with a lot of women,” Bean said.

Frankly, though, I would be much less interested if it weren't for the show's leading man. The rugged Bean, one of the most magnetic and engaging actors around, makes the show. Period.

His female co-star seemed to concur. “For me, as an actor, to watch Sean morph into these different people is incredible to watch,” Larter said in the same press session. “And I don't think you've seen someone of this quality take on a role like this. So that's just exciting to be part of and to watch him do it and to work opposite him.”

It's also insurance that the producers — and TNT — not only won't be killing Bean off in “Legends,” but will do whatever it takes to keep this extraordinary actor happy.

Ali Larter pregnant with second child
Quote
The blonde beauty added that it hasn't been easy trying to hide her pregnancy, especially since she has been working on a new action TV series, Legends.

She explained, "I've been trying to hide it (the bump) as much as I can. And you know, when you're in the public eye, it's really scary in the beginning.

"I was still shooting my spy drama, Legends, where I have to be a covert spy - and a spy in my real life too. So I'm wearing blazers and push up bras and everything you can do to distract as the bump is growing."

Sean Bean lives on in ‘Legends’ #dontkillseanbean

Quote
Sean Bean has had a strong career, appearing in some big films over the years, but as any fan will point out, the characters he plays have some real mortality issues. Perhaps with his new series, Legends, Bean can do a little better?

Premiering on Bravo, August 27 at 9:00 PM (ET), Bean stars in Legends as Martin Odum, a deep-cover FBI agent who begins to question his own identity after a tip from a stranger suggests that his past is a lie.

For Sean Bean’s fans, the show is a chance for the star to have a few years, as long as it is renewed of course, in one role, and a wide range of people have jumped in to have their say with the popular, and cheeky hashtag, #dontkillseanbean. TNT, the network airing Legends in the U.S. started pushing the hashtag during the Television Critics Association’s tour with t-shirts, and it’s obviously a spectacular branding opportunity for Bean and the series alike.

Whether the hashtag will end up being fulfilled or not is up to viewers who will just have to tune in to keep the series alive, but if the success of the hashtag so far is any indication, Sean Bean is probably in good hands this time, at least for now.

TNT wows moviegoers with "Legends" stunt

Quote
From Aug. 8-10, TNT and National CineMedia (NCM) set up a special Legends booth in the lobby of the Regal Union Square movie theater to capture video of moviegoers on their way in to see a film. Utilizing green screen technology and "near real time" editing, select moviegoers were then inserted into the new Legends "trailer" as "virtual extras," creating one-of-a-kind, long-form content pieces unique to each movie and showtime throughout the weekend. TNT and NCM noted which films the video participants were going to see, and those audience members were surprised and delighted to see themselves up on the big screen alongside Legends star Sean Bean in the new action-packed show promo.

The promotion ran in front of all PG-13 and R-rated movies over the weekend. Once their respective movies were over, participants were emailed a copy of their personal Legends promo to share across their own social networks.

The Man, The Myth, The 'Legends'

Quote
Executive producer and showrunner David Wilcox (Fringe, Law & Order), who joined the series after the pilot was shot, talked more about Bean’s character. “Martin Odum is, as you know, a man of mystery who has a past that, really, we dig into, and it’s sort of kind of a Russian doll of who he really is…And Martin Odum, as an undercover operative, as someone who embraces various legends to go deep cover, you know, into these criminal organizations, is somebody who you don’t necessarily know what you’re getting in terms of his identity. And that’s really what this show is about. It’s about a guy whose identity is kind of the driving question. Who is he? And he’s on this journey to figure that out.”
Wilcox said the series is based on a Robert Littell novel. “The term 'legend' is a term of art used in the world of spycraft and it is one that obviously we are embracing. I think the reason people have not used that terminology is that it is an unusual term of art and we are really embracing it. I think it is a cool way of sort of thinking of undercover work that very much he [Bean’s character] is creating a false identity that he can use to infiltrate crime [groups]. The big change for us is that instead of him week to week creating an identity that is good for the crime that he is doing, instead our big shift was that he has these identities already pre-existing and they have their own contacts, their own world, their own apartment, their own wardrobe, you know, everything. It is a deeply imagined character, what these legends are, and he has several of them out there in rotation. So at the end (of the pilot) he says, you know, we can have this weapon of mass destruction out there and he says Dante Auerbach [Martin assumes the legend of Dante Auerbach, an international arms dealer]. Dante is a legend he has used in the past — and it is a legend he may use again in the future. And he knows if he steps into those shoes he is going to be able to tap into that network."

Wilcox added that author Littell is reading the scripts for the show but, as to more involvement from him, Wilcox said he did not know. “You know — we have pulled from the book here and there. The book is amazing. It is great. There are some particular differences that were adjusted basically because this is a TV show.”

Legends: Get the 411 on TNT's New Spy Drama

Quote
Where is the Show Set: The DCO is based in Los Angeles, in the federal bureaucracy there. But as a federal agency, they go anywhere in the country and beyond. It's FBI, so it's predominately domestic, but they'll go where the stories take them. "Legends" will not only investigate cases in the United States.

How Much Deviation is There From the Book: It's a completely different path. It's rooted in the novel's characters, but the demands of storytelling in a really good novel like Legends, and the demands of doing a TV show are totally different.

Is There a New Identity Each Week: No. Each of Martin's deep-cover identities are actually pre-existing characters and pre-existing legends that are out there. They exist. They have their own apartments, their own cars, their own wardrobe, their own contacts, and their own friends. And so, as a case comes in to the FBI, and they turn to DCO to help investigate, Martin is an agent who can pick one of his pre-existing legends, not unlike a surgeon would pick an instrument. It's about: What is the best way that he can infiltrate?

Though it doesn't compare to 'The Last Ship' or 'Murder in the First,' the network's latest drama makes a respectable debut

Quote
Perpetually killed-off actor Sean Bean won't yet have to worry about the chopping block for his new series. Legends had a very respectable opening for TNT on Wednesday night, grossing 3.6 million viewers with two airings.

The inaugural 9 p.m. telecast scored 2.6 million viewers. And while that doesn't exactly seem like the most exciting figure, it pulled that number without any established series lead-in

Among adults 25-54, Legends nabbed 1.1 million viewers for the night — with 1 million viewers falling into the adults 18-49 demo.

‘Legends’ Opens to OK Numbers for TNT On Wednesday

Quote
TNT’s new series “Legends,” developed by “24” and “Homeland” producer Howard Gordon, opened to average numbers on Wednesday — though it should generate above-average VOD tune-in.

According to Nielsen “live plus same-day” estimates, “Legends” averaged a 0.52 rating in adults 18-49 (658,000 viewers in the demo) and 2.6 million viewers for its 9 p.m. telecast, and an 11 p.m. encore attracted about 1 million more total viewers.

TNT made the first episode available to subscribers through TV and broadband VOD for a week leading up to the premiere, so its overall numbers should spike.

The “live plus same-day” demo rating for “Legends” (0.52) puts it in about the middle of the pack for this summer’s cable drama premieres — below TNT’s two prior bows (a 1.18 for “The Last Ship” and a 0.64 for “Murder in the First”) but ahead of USA’s “Satisfaction” (0.49) and “Rush” (0.39) and others including Lifetime’s “The Lottery” (0.41) and AMC’s “Halt and Catch Fire” (0.34).

We have to remember that the pilot episode is made to sell the show to a network. After that you can really
get into the plot and character development. So in my opinion the first real episode will be this week. Also
legends will be shown again tonight in the LA area at 9:30. Check local listing in your area for show times

In general, the production standards are all quite good, as is the videography and editing. Hopefully, the horrible cliches will disappear over the next few episodes. The only real gripe I have is whatever possessed the wardrobe people to put the females all in heels? Real law enforcement types of any sort do not try to run after the bad guys in high heels. It would have lent just a bit more authenticity to the females if they had put them into the sort of footwear that would actually help them do their jobs.

Legends - Chemistry - Advance Preview

Quote
The second episode of the new TNT series Legends, starring Sean Bean, returns on Wednesday with a new FBI case that looks to have stronger legs than the one we saw last week. While last week’s premiere succeeded in introducing us to Bean’s character, deep cover operative Martin Odum, his coworkers, ex-wife and son, as well as introducing the show’s hook - that Odum may not be who he thinks he is and his true identity may be part of a conspiracy plot, the domestic terrorism subplot was a bit weak for a pilot.

If you finished the episode wanting more, this week’s story around a Russian chemist kidnapped by the Chechen mob may be more to your liking. For starters, the case has layers. While it starts off feeling like any of a number of cases you might see on crime shows you find surfing through stations, the action and tension gradually increase as the case deepens.

But more importantly, we see a more integrated team effort in the case. This gives us the opportunity to witness more one-on-one interaction between Odum and the various team members, which helps to round out their characters, along with Odum’s, and to give us a chance to slowly get to know them. I particularly enjoyed a heartfelt discussion between Yates and Odum around Odum’s mental stability and the nagging questions around Odum’s identity that the interaction with the hooded man left Odum with in the previous episode. It gave me a better sense of the dynamics of their relationship, and it was well played by the two seasoned actors.

We see more of Odum in the field and get to witness a more confident field operative that clearly earns the description from the pilot – that Odum might be the best chance that they have. Best of all, the episode concludes with the suggestion that we’ll soon witness Odum in a really fun-to-watch legend.

While there aren’t major new bombshells dropped around Odum’s identity storyline, it is pushed forward slightly, with new pieces of information coming to light and the introduction of a new character, played by Morris Chestnut, who seems to be on the path to complicate matters.

TNT's Legends Climbs to 8 Million Viewers Across Multiple Platforms

Quote
Eight million viewers and counting have watched the premiere episode of TNT's new original series Legends. The drama starring Sean Bean has more than tripled the initial Live + Same Day audience for last Wednesday's premiere telecast, with viewers catching the show through their DVRs, VOD, digital on-demand and a pair of Saturday encores. Legends is the latest series to join TNT's summer slate, which last week accounted for seven of basic cable's Top 10 dramas, with Major Crimes, Rizzoli & Isles and The Last Ship leading the pack.

"It's clear from the rapidly growing audience for Legends that the show has captured the attention of viewers," said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). "We are very excited by this early response to Legends, which continues TNT's expansion into quality genre fare. We look forward to seeing its numbers continue to rise as more and more viewers check it out."

The audience for the premiere episode of TNT's Legends includes 4.3 million viewers who watched the initial telecast or one of the three encore presentations live on TNT, as well as 3.2 million viewers who watched a recording of the show on their DVR. The audience also includes 466,000 viewers who watched on through TNT On-Demand on their set-top boxes and more than 27,000 viewers who watched through TNT's digital on-demand.
