The first trailers have started to be shown on television here in the U.K. so surely interviews will follow - huzzah!

The film is going to be shown in 3D IMAX - good lord, that should be an experience but not for those of a frail constitution.  One or the other but both together - yikes!  It looks spectacular but IMAX always gives me a headache.

And the delay will have helped the film in an odd way in that since then, Eddie Redmayne has become huuuuuge and with all the awards ... reflected glory is better than none!

Warner Bros takes Bilbao’s side for the preview of the last film by Wachovski brothers in the State

Warner Bros. Pictures Spain and Bilbao City Council will organize the preview in the State of the last and anticipated film by Wachovski brothers, creators of the Matrix trilogy among other films, and with Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, Eddie Redmayne and Sean Bean in the leading roles.

The event will take place in the Auditorium of AlhóndigaBilbao on Wednesday February 4, two days before its worldwide release.

 The premiere will be attended by famous faces from the world of culture, communication and Basque sport.

“Jupiter Ascending,” the tentpole space opera from the Wachowski siblings, will debut at the Sundance Film Festival on Tuesday night as this year’s “secret screening,” Variety has learned.

‘Jupiter Ascending’ Debuts to Muted Crowd at Sundance

The Sundance Film Festival isn’t a typical launchpad for studio blockbusters, but Warner Bros. surprised theater-goers on Tuesday night by unveiling the Wachowski sibling’s “Jupiter Ascending” at a “surprise screening.”

Despite the hype of a secret screening, clusters of seats inside the 300-person venue remained empty, and a handful of patrons walked out of the two-hour-plus space epic starring Milas Kunis as a princess and Channing Tatum as an intergalactic soldier tasked with rescuing her.

The Wachowski’s flair was fully on display, with sequences reminiscent of “The Matrix” or “Star Wars.” But when the film ended, the usually gracious Sundance audience didn’t clap at the closing credits.

Critics were not invited to the screening, and a festival programmer reminded critics who may have snagged a ticket that their reviews were embargoed until Monday night.

Even I know that Sundance is not the place for action/adventure-type splashy productions. It revels in small, indie-type artsy films that may be Oscar contenders but rarely make anyone rich. It draws a completely wrong crowd for things like JA.

‘The Matrix’ Creators Launch a New Epic With ‘Jupiter’

The Wachowski siblings, the writer-directors behind the ‘Matrix’ trilogy, blend science fiction, Greek classics, and fairy tales in their new film, ‘Jupiter Ascending’

  Lana and Andy Wachowski, the writer-director siblings who created “The Matrix” in 1999, love to take everything you thought you knew and turn it inside out. Andy makes the approach sound perfectly logical: “What kind of a tagline is ‘Everything Is Exactly as It Seems’?” he asks. “Who wants to see that?”

With “Jupiter Ascending,” which opens Feb. 6, the Wachowskis once again take their hero down the rabbit hole for a revelation. It isn’t Keanu Reeves this time, learning that the familiar world we think we live in is a computer-simulated matrix maintained by machines that are keeping our brains networked and bodies in storage. Here it’s Mila Kunis as a bored Chicago housemaid who may be the lost relative of intergalactic heirs that own planets the way wealthy humans in our world own estates.

 The space family (Eddie Redmayne, Tuppence Middleton, Douglas Booth) has unkind plans for Earth. An interstellar adventure ensues, with Channing Tatum in pointy ears as Ms. Kunis’s human-wolf chaperone, and perpetual tough guy Sean Bean as a reluctant, Han Solo-like helper.

In getting “Jupiter” made, the Wachowskis struggled with Hollywood’s ambivalence toward producing (and trying to market) purely original material.

With “Jupiter,” the pair settled on an original narrative with elements traditional enough for any Hollywood studio. The movie is a sort of steampunk “Princess Diaries,” pulling from sources beyond “The Odyssey” and “The Wizard of Oz.”

“We layered in the idea of Cinderella,” Lana says. “They let us go a little crazy. You know how we like to combine genres. We were looking at some elements of fairy tale, with science fiction.”

“Everyone says, ‘Why can’t you be simpler?’ We’re drawn toward difficult subjects, like the disparity of rich and poor,” Lana says. “We’ve been lucky. People at studios have been interested in our crazy, strange brand of complexity. And we’ve been allowed to keep making them. Will that continue? Probably not.”

I think that's a sad comment from the Wachowski's. As far as I know STAR WARS was made up by G. Lucas,
but he had to back SW with his own money because there was not a best seller book first. So it's always
been hard to get the funding if your story doesn't have a build in audience. I hope this movie makes a lot
of CASH so that creative people can still dream BIG !!

Meet Channing Tatum at the L.A. premiere of ‘Jupiter Ascending’

Ahead of its Feb. 6 release, the cast of Jupiter Ascending will come together for the movie’s World Premiere on Feb. 2.

As with most movie premieres, fans will be able to line the red carpet for a chance to meet the stars, including Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, as they arrive for the screening.

The Jupiter Ascending premiere will take around 6:0 PM at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, 6925 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA.

A few lucky movie-goers were surprised with a secret screening of the movie at the Sundance Film Festival. The invitation-only event was technically the movie’s real World Premiere since it marked the first time the film was shown to the public and, so far, its received mixed reviews.
