It's too bad that they felt the need to move this "up" in time - why is it that movie makers shy away from the 11th century, anyway?

Probably because the 11th Century was not a very glamorous time what with the lack of sanitation, personal hygiene, and dreary bleakness of existence and the overpowering dogma of the church. Knights in shining armor are much more romantic.

Well, yeah - knights in shining armor in the Thomas Malory version of the medieval period . . . the reality of the 13th century wasn't any prettier than the 11th.  So, if you're going to pretty it up, why not pretty up the right century?  Or even tell the real story of MacBeth, which is as interesting as the propaganda tale Shakespeare wrote for James I - sans witches, of course.

Don't mind me.  You know how I get when films start mucking over history!

His outfits look heavy and cumbersome, but I guess he's used to those from some of his other movies.

THere's another Macbeth in the planning with Portman and Fassbender.

the latest Macbeth will be set, as originally written, in the 11th century and will boast proper Shakespearian dialogue

I hope EOM can get a headstart with backers by showing the Promo in Cannes this month.

No original ideas anymore.  Why do two production companies have to do the same theme at the same time?  Snow White was the same way.

I did wonder about this when I saw the news about the Fassbender film this week.   It was hinted that they'd be starting filmimg shortly but I can't find the article now to check.

If I had to guess, I'd say second from the right (of the two darker figures that are close together), based on the shape of the gardbrace (shoulder armor).  Compare the silhouette to the photos of Sean upthread.

I was also wondering if one of the riders was Sean, but I couldn't pick him out of that lineup.
