The Last 48 Hours!

The war drums are sounding loud and clear!

Thank you all for sharing the project, yesterday we had over 120 new backers! One of our highest days so far and triple what we did the day before. Today we have had our highest number of backers ever and the day's not even over!

We’re on the homestretch and the end goal is in sight. We’ve had such amazing support from you all throughout the campaign. We wouldn’t be where we are now without you believing in this project. Thank you.

Macbeth

Our final character update is the tour de force that is Sean Bean.

Sean needs little introduction having been in countless films and TV series over the past twenty years. He is, like so many of the other actors working on this film, a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and has performed in a number of Shakespearean productions throughout his career.

Sean will be breathing life into the play’s title character, Macbeth.

Macbeth, the Thane of Glamis, is a Scottish noble at the center of Shakespeare’s play who, led by his wife Lady Macbeth, and the prophesies of the three witches, commits regicide to steal the throne of Scotland.

A new movie adaptation of Macbeth featuring Rupert Grint will head into production after a successful crowd-funding campaign.

The Enemy of Man will be made after members of the public pledged more than the target of $250,000 (£156,250) on Sunday (06Apr14).

The independent film, directed by Troy's Vincent Regan, will star British actor Sean Bean as the titular character in the latest adaptation of the classic William Shakespeare tragedy. Grint will portray Ross and Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance will play King Duncan.

The campaign, launched on crowd-funding site Kickstarter.com, will cover the pre-production costs required to get the project off the ground.

Production Update and a Huge Thank You!

To update you on the production, thanks to you we are in discussions with a major UK distributor and about to recce locations in Bavaria and Wales no less. You'll be the first to know who and where when we are ready to announce!

We still have no news to share on the casting of Lady Macbeth, though we do hope to be able to make a big announcement shortly.

Enemy of Man

On the 6th April the Enemy of Man Kickstarter campaign finished having just hit its target of $250K with 2 hours of the campaign remaining, it was a nail-biter.  I was more invested than most campaigns I usually get behind.

I had no idea of what to expect, I knew Steve had worked on huge productions like the Batman and the Harry Potter films and he gave no suggestions as to what this production was before we met up. So when he pulled out his laptop and showed me the complete teaser trailer for Enemy of Man directed by Vincent Regan, to say I was blown away was an understatement

The Plan

Impressive nature of the trailer really resonated. Usually these things looked cobbled together, this had a slickness to it you don't often see from Indie productions - it stuck with me. I discussed the project with Andrew and Liam from 'The Fitzroy' and we all agreed there was an oppotunity to get involved in something very exciting, potentially helping a film at another level all together. So we decided to put together a plan for how we would run the Kickstarter campaign if Enemy of Man were our film.

There were two major stumbling blocks. First of all - why? Why Kickstarter? Why should a film of this nature, with the stars it has attached for a globally recognised story need to turn to Kickstarter funding? There was a real danger that fans would feel it wasn't within the essence of what Kickstarter was about.

The best solution we had to both these problems was just to be open and honest about it. Yes this film has a commercial look and feel about it that you might think would be easy to finance, though funny enough its tricky to finance a Shakespeare movie without a proven audience (Kickstarter ended up being just that audience). Then to go on and focus the rewards for the film around the companion short film 'Instruments of Darkness' which was made at the same time as the trailer. These we could guarantee with some integrity.

This is really sad. I work for the forest service part time and today as we were watering the trees at Glen Camp
and the other rangers were asking me about the actor that died in Death Valley. I had no idea who he was
until I read this post. Very sad, but why would you be in Death Valley at this time of the year ??? It's always
over 100 degrees in July !!!!
