Russia's successful animated franchise The Snow Queen is getting a third installment. Producer Wizart Animation has green-lit The Snow Queen 3 with a budget of $15 million. An international rollout is slated for 2016.Hollywood voice talent is due to be announced in the fall at AFM, producer Yuri Moskvin said. The voice cast for Snow Queen 2 included Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones) as General Arrog, Sharlto Copley (Maleficent, District 9, Elysium) as troll Orm, Bella Thorne (Amityville: The Awakening) as Gerda and Isabelle Fuhrman (The Hunger Games) as Alfida.
Bean’s General Arrog is a classic scene stealer with his larger-than-life troll bringing some serious belly laughs with his big headed tales and rivalry with Orm.
In the animated film, The Snow Queen: Magic of the Ice Mirror, Sean Bean voices the role of Arrog, whom he describes as “a kind of warrior/strong man, and military figure who wants prove himself to his people and everyone around him.”Bean is known for playing “warriors” in live-action fantasy films such as Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings, but as points out in our video interview below, they were human characters, whereas Arrog is a huge troll. He found voicing an animated film to be freeing, allowing he and his fellow actors to improvise and explore character in ways that “ADR” (automated dialogue replacement) for a live-action film doesn’t allow when matching your voice to a previously captured onscreen performance. In his words, “you can really go to town on it” and find the idiosyncrasies that make characters interesting.Check out Bean’s full interview below and catch The Snow Queen: Magic of the Ice Mirror, now available to watch anytime with the family on any device on DIRECTV Cinema!
