It's very possible that a second series is underway. If I recall correctly, they did the same with Whitechapel. Once they saw the finished pre-air product of the first series they gave the go ahead for a second and once the first series aired they gave the ok for a third series.

This sounds right for a series that should turn out to be on a par with Whitechapel and Ripper Street. Apparently, they structured filming around his other work requirements, taking time out for JA promo and such. I think we're all going to be quite pleased with the results if history is anything to go by.

Filming, which began in January, comes to Armagh courthouse this Sunday.

After its popularity as a location for the global hit series Game of Thrones, Gosford went gothic in January for part of the show’s filming.

Movie fans will be hoping to catch a glimpse of the star on set this weekend with the set just not as secluded as Gosford forest outside Markethill.

Now this seems to be a really exciting TV series. I guess I have to read ' Frankenstein' once again, before the Frankenstein Chronicles come to screen. :)

But still no freakin' coverage by the local news outlet.  I know we want to see him, but their remit is to report the news in that area, that is what they are paid for and they aren't doing their job.  We licence payers keep them in their freakin' jobs so they should do what they were set up to do - I am livid!

Frankenstein’s journey to ITV

Quote
The Frankenstein Chronicles is currently in production in Northern Ireland, where it has received funding from Northern Ireland Screen, and Endemol Shine International will be selling the six-part series in Cannes next month.

Sean Bean leads the cast in his first series for ITV since Sharpe. He plays a fearless detective on the hunt for a crazed killer through the dark recesses of Regency London.

“We were taken by the originality of this project,” Scoffi eld said. “It’s a mash-up of a genre detective thriller and a horror brand. As it is set at the same time that Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein was written, and with Mary Shelley being a character in the series, it feels very real.”

Creators Benjamin Ross (The Young Poisoner’s Handbook) and Barry Langford (Torte Bluma) use the world of Shelley’s gothic classic as the backdrop for the series.

“Without wanting to give too much away, the series is, to an extent, set in the world of Mary Shelley’s book. It was a time when people were very interested in new science and body-snatching took place for medical research.

Those themes were fed into her work and we are set in that world,” Scoffield explained.

It’s Bean a great week

Quote
Frankenstein Chronicles hoping to return to Armagh

IF you were in Armagh last week you will have noticed the commotion caused by the filming of ITV's new period crime drama, 'The Frankenstein Chronicles.'
Incorporating elements from the investigative and horror genres and set in Georgian London in 1827, the show's lead character, Inspector John Marlott, played by Sean Bean, will be taken on a terrifying journey in pursuit of a chilling and diabolical foe.
The landscapes of Northern Ireland have, over the last few years, become synonymous with big budget productions but this is the first time Armagh city has been used as a location.
The cast and crew spent much of last week filming in and around Armagh's courthouse, the gaol and Russell street. They also spent two days at Gosford Castle in Markethill.

During the shoot the Ulster Gazette was invited to chat with the production team to find out just why they chose to film in Armagh city.
The show's Location Manager, Andrew Wilson, spoke highly of Armagh and it's 'fantastic' architecture.
“'For us, Armagh has always been a potential shooting location for various projects that we have and will be filming in Northern Ireland," said Andrew.
“The show will really show off the beauty of this city, we don't actually have to do very much to bring it back a couple of hundred years.
“When we were thinking about possible filming locations, we met with the council and the welcome we got from them was very encouraging.
“Filming here has been a very positive experience we would love to use Armagh as a set again, it has fantastic architecture.
“Working in any city provides challenges as roads have to be closed off, but to be honest, Armagh has been an absolute joy, the reception we have got from the people has been fantastic.

If this thing takes off as we hope it will, it can have fantastic ramifications for a place like Armagh and this show will hopefully be screened throughout the world.
“Hopefully there will be a second series, it's hard to know if we will be back with this production until we see the scripts but hopefully we will."
The show's Executive Producer, Tracey Scoffield expressed her delight with Armagh's Georgian buildings but also spoke honestly about the challenges filming in Northern Ireland presented for her team.
“We are filming the entire series in Northern Ireland and thankfully because of Armagh's unique architecture, a lot of our sets are real.

“It is a bit of a challenge filming in Northern Ireland, you have to find a window around Game of Thrones as they take up all the available production and support staff.
“As a consequence we started shooting in January. The weather has been our biggest challenge but what we have captured on camera so far looks fantastic.
“We hope to come back to Armagh, but that will depend on how the audience react to our show. If we have managed to create something the audience want to return to, it will mean we will more than likely be returning."

I'm so chuffed I've just done two weeks work for 'The Frankenstein Chronicles' a production that will be shown on TV around Christmas, Sean Bean is a main actor with lots of other well known English actors, I'm busting a gut to show the pics but I can't until it has been shown, so watch this space around Christmas 2015!
