What’s New on Netflix in February
Quote
The Frankenstein Chronicles: Seasons 1 and 2 (2/20)

Those TV fans still reeling at the idea of an entire calendar year (or more) without new episodes of Game of Thrones can perhaps take solace in Netflix’s latest costumed British import, starring Ned Stark himself: Sean Bean. If the name of the series didn’t already tip you off, this series (which originally aired in the U.K. in 2015) centers on reanimated monsters in 19th-century England. Bean plays an inspector determined to discover who is responsible for a washed-up corpse cobbled together from the bodies of several different victims. Overeager English majors (Mary Shelley is a character) and fans of Penny Dreadful, Taboo, Ripper Street, or Peaky Blinders are in for a gory treat.

What to watch on Netflix Canada in February 2018
Quote
The Frankenstein Chronicles

The latest cult series from Britain to hit Netflix is The Frankenstein Chronicles, a 19th-century crime
show that reimagines Mary Shelley’s classic novel. Sean Bean stars as a London inspector looking into the  deaths of children whose corpses appear to be composites of various body parts. Is someone re-animating the dead? Seems likely! Two seasons have aired in the UK and both will be available on Netflix this month. February 20

Most tantalizing of all, however, at least for horror fans, is the much-anticipated arrival of "The Frankenstein Chronicles" on Tuesday, Feb. 20. The six-episode period crime drama became a cult favorite when it aired on British television in 2015, and second six-episode season aired late last year.

It is not, as sometimes claimed, a retelling of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein," the landmark horror novel published in 1818. But, set in 1827, it does draw inspiration from the classic terror tale, and Shelley appears as a character in the first season (played by Anna Maxwell Martin).

The top-billed star is Sean Bean ("Game of Thrones"), who plays river police officer Inspector John Marlott. He is trying to nab a gang of opium smugglers when a body is discovered near the Thames River.

The corpse is made up of body parts from eight missing children. While Home Secretary Robert Peel (Tom Ward) wants the investigation carried out as quietly as possible, Marlott hears a vagrant boy tell of a "monster" abducting children in the dead of night.

It's a monstrous good fit for Netflix, already haunting subscribers with the acclaimed and eerie likes of "Black Mirror" and "Stranger Things." Put it all together, piece by piece (like Dr. Frankenstein), and you have a bloody powerful reason why other programmers should be plenty scared.

Tech: Netflix’s latest addictive drama is ‘The Frankenstein Chronicles,’ a cult hit that stars ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Sean Bean
Quote
Netflix has found yet another great foreign series in the UK cult hit "The Frankenstein Chronicles," which the streaming service released the first two seasons of on Monday for US and global audiences.

Its first two six-episode seasons aired on ITV's now-defunct Encore channel.

Netflix's decision to pick up the series globally and label it a "Netflix Original" has some critics speculating that the service could carry the series for subsequent seasons if it performs well.

"The Frankenstein Chronicles" has yet to find much traction with US critics a few days after its domestic release, but the series has earned consistent praise in the UK.

The Telegraph called it "bold, eerily effective and chillingly atmospheric," and The Guardian labeled it a "genuinely rather good" series that "offers real rare shivers."

‘The Frankenstein Chronicles’ Review: Sean Bean’s Netflix Series Comes Roaring to Life After Three Years in Purgatory
Brought back from the dead and well-stitched together, "The Frankenstein Chronicles" is a solid, strong-boned detective story.

When will Season 3 of The Frankenstein Chronicles be on Netflix?

Quote
The British drama, The Frankenstein Chronicles dropped two seasons and joined the Netflix Original library in February 2018. Finished all the episodes and want to know when season 3 will drop on Netflix? Here’s what we know about the next season.

If the Brits are good at anything it’s creating great period dramas. This one comes from ITV, a commercial TV network in England. It also produces titles like Downton Abbey, Inspector Morse, and Doc Martin.

Although seasons 1 and 2 only just dropped on Netflix, the series has actually existed since 2015. Season 1 began airing in the UK in late 2015. A year later in the summer, it was announced that the show had been renewed for season 2. Season 2 then aired at the end of 2017 and wrapped up in December 2017.

Has Season 3 been Announced and Release Date?

As is the case with many British shows, they tend to operate on a slower timeline than American shows. Given the way season 2 wrapped up, it does suggest that there’s potential for more episodes but we’ll have to wait for them.

On the timeline between season 1 and 2 that means we’ll have a two-year wait until more episodes of The Frankenstein Chronicles. That means it’s likely going to get renewed later this year. As for release date, expect towards the end of 2019 with the episodes then dropping on Netflix in early 2020.

Why isn’t season 2 of The Frankenstein Chronicles on Netflix UK?

Only season 1 of The Frankenstein Chronicles dropped on Netflix in the United Kingdom. That’s because ITV is still keeping the streaming rights locked onto their ITV Hub platform. We do expect it to come to Netflix there but it won’t be for several months if not a year.

THE CHRONICLES OF FRANKENSTEIN | Second season arrives in March on A & E!

Quote

SEAN BEAN IS BACK AS DETECTIVE JOHN MARLOTT
  .
The second season of The Chronicles of Frankenstein (The Frankenstein Chronicles), the A & E debut on March 16 , tells, under the unique perspective Detective John Marlott (Sean Bean, Game of Thornes, The Lord of the Rings), the mysterious events taking place in London in the 1830s.

In the first year of the series, Marlott set out to investigate demonic crimes and experiments that appear to be a consequence of Mary Shelley's work on Dr. Victor Frankenstein and the victims of his experiments, his ultimate creation being the famous Frankenstein monster created with parts of missing children. In the last episode, the detective was murdered and brought back to life - a process that transformed him.

The first season of the series fused in a unique way classic elements of the genres terror and crime. Filmed in Northern Ireland, it featured a large production ranging from characterizations and period clothing to locations and photography, resulting in a captivating and macabre story filled with action, suspense and horror.

The A & E will feature two episodes per week on Fridays from 21.35.
