It *does* sound like a good role for him, and if he got on well with Sir. Rid. - both northerners - he might be added to Sir. Rid's list of go-to actors that he likes to work with over and over which could be nothing but good for our boy.

Have to say that I'm not a fan of that photo though - don't know why, just not.

And surely another film worth paying the exorbitant IMAX fees to see.

It's similar to the ones from Flight Plan, which don't do a whole lot for me. BUT love seeing the dirty blonde hair again.
When in the last couple of years was his hair like that long enough to film that, I wonder? Seems like it's been caramel-coloured and long in the front continuously for a while.
This sounds like the PERFECT ROLE for Sean !!!
Yes, it does. Right up his alley.

Yeah, the hair thing is a bit weird. Call me obsessed but I am worried that S might have had a weave or a transplant of some kind during the Legends run ... And if this is the case my passion will be snuffed out in seconds. I need to see some lank fronds and a stretch of familiar pink scalp to know that everything is as normal in the follicle department.

Funnily enough, I was watching ep. 1 again the other night and there is defintiely something very weird going on with his hair then, particularly when he goes to see his 'wife' and child at the beginning.  I was thinking 'frightening toupe' but who knows?!

I know exactly what you mean, and funny how we all have odd things about him that are important to our love for him despite how bizarre or shallow they may seem to others who are not as afflicted with such severe cases of 'Galloping Beanitis' as we are.

I think we need to remember that this is a character part and not the handsome leading man role. As Sean's
fan I LOVE seeing him as the HOT SEXY GUY, but that look would interfere with the person he's playing and
the storyline of this film. Mitch is an older average looking man who's NOT AFRAID of taking RISKS !! They're
DOWN PLAYING Sean's handsome features with a lot of make-up and bad lighting. Probably drew in more
wrinkles and added big bags under his eye's. That's OK because we all know that in real life Sean looks
AMAZING !! What's really important is that this movie (hopefully) will give Sean a chance to showcase his
EXTRAORDINARY ACTING TALENT to a larger audience !!

During filming Legends after the Pilot they recasted the boy who plays his son,so they had to reshoot some parts at a later date and there were also some other reshoots I believe, hence the difference in hair.
Same with GOT after the recasting of Catleyn.

Looking at it closely, and I have to look at a LOT of photos closely to get them formatted for the gallery, that is his real hair and pretty near his real color. Its just a bit washed out looking in the bright lights of the photo studio, a common problem when they start shooting promo shots. When overworked, his hair gets very dry and frizzy. He's got that baby-fine hair that is very sensitive to sunlight, just like mine, and when they do the makeup and hair for this kind of thing they go crazy with the gels and sprays. If they had added a goop to slick it down like they do for the Dante legend then it turns very dark.

And I love that colour. Suits him the best. I also liked the more golden colour (National Treasure), but after a certain age, it just doesn't look natural.

That Sneak Peek Moment in The Martian Trailer #2

Quote
Two words – Sean Bean. He shows up for literally two seconds and speaks three words but delivers them with arguably the most powerfully emotional moment in the entire trailer. Bean is Mitch Henderson, the flight director of the doomed mission who isn’t going to let anything get in the way of rescuing Watney. This Sneak Peek Moment alone is compelling enough reason to watch the film as it suggests that there will be great sacrifices made by many to save just one. That is what makes humanity so special and one great reason why the story is so good. This should be a remarkable film.

This is looking like a good film in general and a good role for Sean.
