Sean's voicing King Regis in a feature length CG movie Final Fantasy XV.

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV Is A CG Film Based Around The Game
Quote
Their first shot at cinematic glory may not have gone too well, but after almost 15 years, Square Enix is returning to the world of film. Debuting at tonight’s Uncovered event, the upcoming Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV is a fully CG animated feature that will take place alongside the events of the game.

Featuring an all-star voice cast that includes Aaron Paul, Lean Headey and Sean Bean, Kingsglaive takes place in Noctis’ home kingdom of Lucis while he is away. The magical world of Lucis houses the hallowed Crystal, the last of its kind. Unfortunately for the nation, though, the Niflheim empire will stop at nothing to obtain the powerful Crystal.

The citizens of Lucis won’t go down without a fight, however. King Regis (Bean) is the commander of a dedicated group of soldiers known as the Kingsglaive. Using the magic bestowed upon them by their king, Nyx Ulric (Paul) and the rest of the Kingsglaive are tasked with protecting the city of Insomnia from the invading forces.

Faced with having his entire city crushed by the Niflheim, King Regis is faced with an ultimatum. If he wishes to preserve his kingdom, he must cede all of his outside land, as well as make sure that his son Noctis weds Lady Lunafreya (Headey). With war continuing to march on, Insomnia soon becomes a battlefield of awe-inspiring action that threatens to take down Nyx and the mighty Kingsglaive.

Final Fantasy XV is getting a feature length CG movie starring Game of Thrones' Sean Bean and Lena Headey

Quote
Final Fantasy XV isn't just a game anymore: it's also a movie. Today, Square Enix announced a feature length CG animated film called Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, which will tell a story that runs concurrently with the main game. It's being directed by Takeshi Nozue, who previously co-directed one of Square's earlier tie-in movies, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. According to Nozue, the core of the Kingsglaive team also worked on Advent Children.

The movie features voice performances from Lena Headey and Sean Bean, known for their roles as Cersei Lannister and Ned Stark in Game of Thrones, along with Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, who says that "probably 99 percent" of his decision to take the part was based on the presence of blue crystals in the plot.

‘Game of Thrones’ Stars Lena Heady and Sean Bean to Star in Final Fantasy XV

Quote
The announcement was made during Square Enix’s Uncovered: Final Fantasy event. Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV is a full-length CG film set in the Final Fantasy XV universe. The events of the game will take place during the events of the game, focuses on Lunafreya (Luna) Nox Fleuret and King Regis, and begins after Noctis and friends leave the capital.

Square Enix also dropped some major bombshells. Game of Thrones stars Lena Heady (Cersei Lannister) and Sean Bean (Eddard “Ned” Stark) will be playing Luna and Regis respectively. It was also revealed that ‘Breaking Bad’ star Aaron Paul will be playing Nyx, a character who will only be featured in Kingsglaive.

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV Gets a Japanese Release Date

Quote
About a month ago, during their Final Fantasy XV event, Square Enix announced that the game will be receiving a CG movie called Kingsglaive. Set during the events of the game, the movie’s American voice cast includes Sean Bean as King Regis, Lena Heady as Lunafreya, and Aaron Paul as Nyx. Today, it was revealed that the film will come to Japanese theaters starting on July 9. Tickets will begin going on sale on April 23. Anyone who buys tickets early will be given a free metallic A3 poster on release day.

Currently, Square Enix hasn’t announced any of the voice cast for the Japanese version, or any of the other voice actors for the American version, for that matter. While Kingsglaive will be coming to theaters in Japan, in American, it’ll be available to stream and download before the game’s release. It’ll also be included as a Blu-Ray in the Deluxe and Ultimate Collector’s editions of the game when it releases on September 30. Which is good for anyone who snagged the Ultimate edition, since they’ve just announced more will be in production

They wrote, "... the likes of Sean Bean, Aaron Paul and Game of Thrones stalwart Lena Headey can be glimpsed in the gallery above," but I didn't see Sean Bean or Lena Headey. No idea who Aaron Paul is.  The phrase "the likes of" of one of those weasel phrases. I guess CG means King Regis may not look much like Sean? The button design on those uniforms reminds me of the 95th Rifles uniforms.

Hmmm... that's an interesting question. Would Sean want a lot more money for that? Would Sean even like the idea?

I'm not sure I'd like a cartoonised version of Sean... it would depend.

It looks more like Christian Bale than Sean.

I was initially blasé about this since gaming is not my cup of tea and we don't get to actually see Sean, but I must admit, it looks intriguing. If I could see this on the big screen, I'd go.

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV Gets Digital and Blu-Ray Release Dates

Quote
The 2016 San Diego Comic-Con brought with it an incredible amount of news regarding upcoming Marvel and DC movies, new comic announcements, and heaps more, but among all of that there was also a panel dedicated to the Final Fantasy XV companion film, Kingsglaive. One of the first announcements during the panel was the movie’s digital and physical release dates.

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV will be available digitally from Aug. 30, and can be purchased on Blu-Ray and DVD from Oct. 4. That means the digital version comes out about a month before Final Fantasy XV launches, while the physical copies aren’t available until after the game has come out.

It was previously announced that Kingsglaive will be coming to select cinemas across the United States on Aug. 19, and it premiered recently in Japan to extremely positive reviews. The official DVD and Blu-Ray box art was also revealed during the panel, and it’s sure looking pretty. The film stars Sean Bean (Game of Thrones) as King Regis, Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) as Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) as Nyx, leader of the Glaive. Final Fantasy XV is slated to hit the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Sept. 30.

Final Fantasy XV is less than two months away from release, and fans will be able to experience the series through other mediums including Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV and Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. The latter features voice actors Sean Bean, Lena Headey and Aaron Paul. At San Diego Comic-Con, Square Enix held a Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV panel, revealing some new information about the full-length movie.

The last question asked was about Sean Bean, Aaron Paul, and Lena Headey. Why were those three big names chosen for the roles? Nozue said that as they were looking to cast the characters, they had to ask, “Do they fit the role?” Nix is an outsider and Aaron Paul has played an outsider really well in film and television. For Nozue, Sean Bean is a natural fit for a King, while Lena Headey has a royal grace and a strong core.

After the opening sequence, it was announced that Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV would be released digitally on August 30th and on Blu-ray and DVD on October 4th.

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy 15 premieres August 23 in London’s West End

Quote
The feature-length GGI film Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy 15 will make its London premiere in two week’s time.

It will be shown in the West End on August 23 ahead of its digital release on August 30. The press release didn’t say which theater in West End it would be shown, but since it is a rather hopping section of the city, we figure Londoners will have an inkling where it will premiere. We’ll still try to find out for you.
