Birkett, and Roger Patterson and starring Sean Bean, Mary McCormack, Joel David Moore, Sharon Taylor, Patrick Sabongui, Kirby Morrow, Kevin O’Grady, Corina Akeson, Bradley Stryker, John Emmet Tracy, Maxwell Haynes, Cary Alexander, Becky Hachey, Peter Dwerryhouse, and Elissa Ciullo

Plot synopsis:
“Neil (Sean Bean) is a private drone contractor who spends his workdays flying covert missions then returns to a family life of suburban mediocrity — without his wife or son knowing about his secret life — until a whistle-blowing site exposes him to a deadly threat. Believing he is responsible for the deaths of his wife and child, an enigmatic Pakistani businessman (Patrick Sabongui) tracks him down, leading to a harrowing confrontation.”

Whistleblowers who leak military data are traitors or even enemies of the country… No pardon for them!

Atom Egoyan headlines Vancity Theatre's free Canadian Film Day blowout

The Vancity is expanding its CFD150 celebrations with six new Canadian features threaded through its regular weekly schedule, starting with Nick de Pencier's bleak survey of the Internet, Black Code, on April 14.

Shot in BC (playing Washington) and India (playing Pakistan), the new film from the writer-director of Black Fly is an intense, topical thriller inspired by geo-politics but zero-ing in on a seemingly ordinary North American family: Neil (Sean Bean) is an IT contractor, oblivious to the fact that his wife Ellen (Mary McCormack) is having an affair, and doing his best to keep his teenage son (Maxwell Haynes) on track. What sets Neil apart is that he is a drone operator for the US military. He has blood on his hands, but that’s not how he sees it. It’s only when the kindly, genteel Imir (Patrick Sobongui) shows up at their door that he realizes the repercussions of what he has done…

With sharply etched characters and fine performances, this engrossing suspense drama brings the War on Terror right back home.

Bellevue isn’t the first time Taylor has played a cop; she’s worn a badge multiple times, like in A Mother’s Instinct, Asteroid: Final Impact, and Jason Bourque’s upcoming feature film, Drone, which stars Sean Bean and Patrick Sabongui and has its Vancouver premiere on April 17 as part of VIFF Vancity Theatre’s Canadian Film Week festivities. “When I was in grade 12, I was either going to be a police officer or an actor,” chuckles Taylor, whose Drone character is named Agent Jenkins – the third Agent Jenkins she’s played. “Now I’m an actor that pretty much only plays police officers.”
