£2M bid to persuade visitors to look away as Sean Bean film location becomes tourism gem

Quote

A £2 million scheme has been drawn up to persuade visitors to turn their eyes away from eyesore industrial estate where Hollywood hunk Sean Bean made the vigilante film Outlaw.

Moves are afoot to transform Lydney's hidden harbour into 'one of the South West's major attractions' by turning the factory into a seafood business with a restaurant overlooking the Severn.

But those behind the plans fear that even if the Pine End factory and harbour is transformed, visitors will never get to see it because of the ugly industrial units along the approach road.

The 2007 film starring Sean Bean, Danny Dyere, Lennie James, Rupert Friend and Sean Harris was directed by Nick Love and filmed in several locations in the county, but mostly around Lydney Harbour and the surrounding industrial estate.
