OTLEY residents will be able to order a pint in the Sean Bean - or a glass of wine in the Judi Dench - next year.

The acclaimed actors have emerged as two of the winners of Otley pub Club's Yorkshire Day Celebrities Survey.

The questionnaire asked people to vote for the regional stars, across 11 categories, whose names they would like to see an inn in the town adopt for Yorkshire Day, 2018.

Other winners include former World Champion road cyclist Lizzie Deignan and triathlon stars Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, comedy legend Michael Palin, and Ricky Wilson of Kaiser Chiefs.

Every pub in Otley to be renamed after a Yorkshire celebrity for Yorkshire Day

Every pub in Otley is being renamed after a Yorkshire celebrity in a stunt to mark Yorkshire Day.

But the new names won't take effect until Yorkshire Day 2018 - when the town's 21 pubs will each hope to entice their famous namesakes over for a pint!
The final 21 names were chosen from an initial longlist of 110 in an online survey and they will be matched to pubs tonight at 7pm at the Black Horse Hotel in what organisers are calling an "FA Cup style draw".

Otley pubs allocated 'celebrity aliases' for next Yorkshire Day
Quote
EACH of Otley's pubs has been allocated a 'celebrity alias' for next Yorkshire Day.
The club will ask each celebrity to visit 'their' pub next August - or send a message or piece of memorabilia instead.

If it was 10 years ago, I would not even have doubted it -  it will surely come.
And now I don’t  know.

With Mark Addy they missed - it fits perfectly with any pub. In vain they are so

Celebrities in touch with pub club about Otley Yorkshire Day visit
Quote
CELEBRITIES have been in touch with Otley Pub Club about this year's Yorkshire Day plans.

Twenty one of the town's inns will take on the name of regional star on August 1, 2018 after the club asked the public to nominate their favourites.

The winners included acting giants like Dame Judi Dench and Sean Bean along with sporting champions - such as Otley-born cyclist Lizzie Deignan - and musicians including Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs.

The Pub Club has also invited all of the celebrities to actually visit 'their' Otley pub on Yorkshire Day - and Secretary Bob Brook says responses have now started to come in.

Posting on the club's website, otleypubclub.co.uk, he said: "We've now had responses from five of the 21 celebrities chosen to have a pub named after them.

"I'll keep you up to date throughout the early part of 2018 with more details of who we hope will be visiting."

Some of the celebrities have promised to try to visit their pubs in Otley on Yorkshire Day, or close to it, to mark the occasion.
