Its about time!!!
Filed under News. Posted Nov 26, 2013.Emmy time, that is, as Sean takes home the Best Actor International Emmy Award. As all of Sean's fans know, he's been long overdue a major award. Funny how it is that of all his magnificent performances it is as the cross-dressing Tracie of Accused: Tracie's Story that did it for him.
Daily Mail Online says:
He’s best known for his roles as warriors Boromir in Lord of the Rings and Ned Stark in TV’s Game of Thrones so Sean Bean’s casting as a transvestite in The Accused raised some eyebrows.
However, the hardman’s portrayal of English teacher Simon and his alter ego, Tracie, won him widespread acclaim and award nominations, culminating in a win at the International Emmy Awards in New York on Monday.
Sean, 54, received the award for Best Actor from actresses Taryn Manning and Jackie Cruz at the Hilton, New York.
The Hollywood Reporter tells us:
Sean Bean of Game of Thrones received what he said was his first-ever award, the best actor honor for playing a cross-dresser accused of murder in the Brit crime drama Accused. Chris O'Dowd and the creators of Irish series Moone Boy won best comedy series, while Australian refugee reality series Go Back to Where You Come From won the International Emmy for best non-scripted series.
The Republic says:
Bean, best known for his roles in "The Lord of the Rings" and "Game of Thrones," won the best actor award for his role in an episode of the crime anthology series "Accused." Bean portrayed a shy English literature teacher with a secret alter-ego of a flamboyant transvestite who gets involved in an affair with a married man that leads to a brutal crime of passion. The veteran actor said he was especialy "delighted" because "I've never actually won anything before."
Earlier on the red carpet, Bean said he took on the against-type role because it's something he's "always kind of aspired to — playing diversity and different characters."
"I guess that's what excites us as actors and this was a wonderful opportunity for me to display another side of my character," he said.
