Anna was born in La Spezia in Italy, where she still lives. She started drawing and painting when she was thirteen years old and is completely self taught. The only thing she has ever wanted to do was draw and paint and as she practiced over the years she became more and more detailed, broadening her horizons to experiment with various mediums. Anna first started drawing with pencil, studying all the possible shades of grey between absolute white and the deepest black, developing a solid foundation in all of the techniques of drawing and painting. Today, she is equally proficient in pencil, charcoals, inks, pastels, water colours and oils.
Her favourite subjects are portraits, which she also does on commission. In her collection, she has done more portraits of Sean Bean than any other subject. She sees portraits as the representaion of uniqueness amid the millions of people, with all the personal traits and features, different from any other face. "The variety of the human being is extraordinary and its practically impossible to find two persons perfectly the same. Therefore, we can recognise, when the portrait is well drawn, the person represented by the drawing." Paying attention to every last detail, she strives to make the final drawing as close to reality as possible.
Anna has taken part in many art exhibitions, winning the San Marco (Cenacolo Buttini) prize in 1998 in Avenza (Tuscany) with her piece Clouds. Please click her picture to visit her website and see her complete gallery. To commission a piece, feel free to contact her at: annab.net@gmail.net
