Well, they won't be making a profit at that rate (not from the box office, anyway) . . . but it's better than some other indy's opening figures.

But they are getting more buzz than most indie films.  First the BIG cinema premiere in NY City, then this premier in Las Vegas, the various PR and social media things they are doing.... and it will open in more cinemas April ... um... 12 was it?

9th, I think.

I was just comparing it to some of the other indy's that opened last week - it's a little disheartening. (sorry, hard to read the table - link here: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/?view=&yr=2010&wknd=13&sort=wknum&order=ASC&p=.htm (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/?view=&yr=2010&wknd=13&sort=wknum&order=ASC&p=.htm))

Obviously, per venue average is deceptive and gross more revealing - I would have liked to see Cash closer to Waking Sleeping Beauty than The Eclipse in regard to the latter figure . . . but I don't know diddly about this stuff, so I'm just spouting off.

Also a little concerned that there aren't many post-premiere reviews surfacing.  I did find this one:

http://www.filmsinreview.com/2010/03/29/cah/ (http://www.filmsinreview.com/2010/03/29/cah/)

which I suspect has already been posted somewhere on the forum.  Nice review.

Nowhere near as bad as Uma Thurman's latest film 'Motherhood' which took £88 on it's opening weekend last week!

88?  I heard it was 12.  And that's NOT an indie film.  ROFL.

That mostly dead week hurt them, I think.  I know it didn't work out well in LV, because they closed the film after the first week.  A shame, because people tend to go to films on weekends, so by the time the first group that saw it reported to their friends that it was worth seeing and the friends determined to go the following weekend - it was gone.

I thought, initially, that they would open nationwide immediately after the premiere - two weeks is a long time to wait after the initial buzz.  I understand that the distributor was testing the waters with the limited release, but they didn't leave it open long enough in those towns to get their toes wet!

Too bad, really.
