Samantha Bond: "Pierce Brosnan is a better kisser than Sean Bean"

Quote
It isn’t that, it’s just I haven’t made a James Bond film in 17 years, and if you roll all my screen time into one it would be the smallest role I’ve ever done. So although I’m proud to have done them, I had a hoot, and yes, Pierce Brosnan is a great kisser, better than Sean Bean. But I don’t know what else to say.

Which Yorkshire stage or screen star, past or present, would you like to take for dinner?

It would be either Judi Dench or Sean Bean. Dame Judi can play just about anything, and always does it so superbly well.

And Sean Bean……well, he ticks all the boxes for me. I love his accent, I could listen to him talking with my eyes closed, and it would send shiver up and down my spine.

Which Yorkshire screen or stage star, past or present, would you like to take out to dinner? I’d probably say Sean Bean. He’s a Sheffield lad and when I was growing up I watched When Saturday Comes, a film about a footballer who fell off the rails a bit. He got himself back on track by scoring the winning goal at Sheffield United. My dad used to say to me if you go out drinking, that’s what will happen to you.

Other previous Corsa owners include former world rally champion Colin McRae and the actor Sean Bean, both of whom owned a first-generation Nova. Bean bought his Nova for £100 from friends when his own car (a BMW) was stolen.

Don Carmody is probably not the first person to be convinced of the merits of television by The Game of Thrones.

The long-time film producer, who has been behind some of Canada’s most iconic movies as well as international hits such as 2002’s Oscar-winning Chicago, may be at the Banff World Media Festival to receive what amounts to a life-time achievement award, but he is a relative newcomer to this golden-age of television. And, at least partially, he has two members of the Westeros bunch to thank.

It was on the Toronto set of Silent Hill: Revelation that actors Sean Bean and Kit Harington — Ned Stark and Jon Snow, themselves —   finally convinced the producer to give this little HBO show they were on a chance.

“I wasn’t really watching television,” Carmody says. “But they just bugged me and bugged me. I finally watched it and went ‘Wow, that’s amazing.’ But not only that, I get it. It’s just a long movie, a serialization of a great story. So I understand that.

Game Of Thrones Star Dominic Carter Talks To #ThroneWatch: “You Don’t Mess With Sean Bean”

Quote
Given the complexity of Game of Thrones characters, we wondered if Ned Stark would have ever turned to the dark side in such a corrupt environment, but Dominic thinks not.

“I don’t think so…it’s Sean Bean for God’s sake! You don’t mess with Sean.”he said.

Good point.

An interview with Paul Joseph Watson

Quote
Given that you are now bigger than Madonna on Twitter, a woman widely regarded as the biggest pop star in the world. Is it safe to say that you have overtaken Sean Bean as Sheffield’s most famous export?

Madonna is not the biggest anything anymore, she might be the oldest slag on the planet given her behaviour, which isn’t befitting of someone at virtually Grandma age. She needs to grow old gracefully.

Sean Bean’s popularity is also on the wane. I knew someone who met him in a pub in Sheffield and said he was a pompous twat. He also supports Sheffield Utd, which automatically makes him a c**t. I could never respect anyone who supports Sheffield Utd.

Multi-Oscar winner Nick Park isn’t just a world-class filmmaker, he’s also a very lateral man when it comes to casting his films. For his new animated feature Early Man, that lands in cinemas here on January 25th, he’s given the two lead male vocal roles to Eddie Redmayne and Tom Hiddleston. But the way that he settled on both of those actors is very, very Nick Park-y.

For Redmayne, it wasn’t his Oscar-winning turn in The Theory Of Everything, his family movie credentials from Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them or his villain and a half in Jupiter Ascending. Rather, it was the 2008 horror Black Death, the film in which Redmayne was beaten up by Sean Bean. Off the back of that, Park reckoned – and was right – that Redmayne would be perfect to voice a 15-year old caveman.

I chatted to Redmayne about this last week, and he'd only just found out himself that Black Death was so pivotal. "My memory of that film was being in swamps in Germany being beaten up by Sean Bean", he laughed, adding "the fact that he's even seen Black Death means a great deal!"

Sean Bean's local store - where the star's proud parents were reportedly known to pop in to buy his latest films - also became a haven for technophobes, with loyal movie buffs travelling from across the city.

Philip, who ran the store with his wife Susan, daughter Sarah and friend Stuart Abbott, said Titanic was the most popular film he ever stocked, just ahead of When Saturday Comes.

The most arduous fight was the one with Sean Bean, on the ladder over the giant radio telescope at the end. He and I spent six weeks constructing the sequence, working on it during our lunch breaks and at the end of the day with a stunt coordinator.

Absolutely! Playing in a Sheffield derby is just something else, something that will never leave me; I’ll always remember Sean Bean getting on the Sheffield United coach with us as we went to play at Hillsborough. That was a strange experience. However, that said, he was nowhere to be seen on the way back after we got beat! I don’t think he wanted to see us anymore!

This week, let's talk about experiences you have had that are strange - but true!

Most of us, who have lived for a while, have some kind of story to tell that is difficult to believe - but it happened!

In my case, I was working in a kitchen in London, when suddenly the famous English actor Sean Bean walked in to use the phone. We chatted for 10 minutes. What amazing, unusual, supernatural (even) experiences have you had defy the odds?!

"I remember very well the day I signed apprentice forms. Back then you would sign them at the side of the pitch and mine was on the night we played Man United in the cup, which was also the night they were filming When Saturday Comes.

"You would go and meet the manager in the manager's office before the game and as we were going in Sean Bean came out and my mum said 'Colin, Colin, that's Sean Bean' and Sean Bean went 'that's Colin Morris!'

"That was a good night to be signing and everything was just brilliant."
