Not going to happen. They just plain weren't up to the challenge yesterday - it wasn't that they didn't try (okay, there were a number who were calling it in) . . . they just weren't good enough. The poor crosses and gutless performance (better to try and fail than not try at all. Really.) of both the midfield and forwards meant we were doomed from the first whistle. It was dire.
I have to agree with *small gag* Seth Bennett on this one . . . we go down, we lose many of the 'experienced' players (I am gutted about a few of those - like Monty and maybe even Morgs *argh!*) and bring in some of the new talent coming from the academy. We probably won't bounce out of League 1 - but if it's going to be rebuilding from scratch, what's the point of bouncing out and taking it in the chops again? Better to stay down for a couple of seasons, until the squad is ready for prime-time.
I'm not sure if I absolutely agree with his assessment about spending - he suggests that it started going pear-shaped when we went up to the Premier League and got worse and worse. We have made piss-poor decisions; buying high and allowing ridiculous release clauses; but I'm not sure it's been all bad.
Mickey Adams swears he wants to stick with the club - I hope he does. He was SO pissed off yesterday - wow.
