Rarely does this turn of events end well . . .

Good luck, Morgs.  You're going to need it!

Sheffield United: Blades make Morgan gamble

CHRIS Morgan will be offered the chance to take charge of Sheffield United on a permanent basis if his first five matches at the helm prove a success, The Star can reveal.

Sheff Utd 2-0 Swindon

They did well.  Better in the first half than the second, but a win is a win.  It's unfortunate that their previous run pushed them so far down - unless they have an extraordinary run to the finish (and a good bit of luck with clubs above them losing), they will have to go to the play-offs . . .

Keeping my fingers crossed!  UTB!

Okay only one match since the change but maybe Morgan will make a difference.  Maybe we can be hopeful now?

A bounce with a new manager is common.  We'll just have to wait and see.  There aren't too many players (any?  need to check) now that were with the club when Morgs was captain, but I'm sure he has a certain rapport with them.  Now we'll have to see if he has the qualities that squad needs to motivate them.
They have the talent - there really isn't a good reason for them to have languished in this league - I think it's an issue of youth and cohesiveness.  Morgs and Monty brought that to the club for a long time (as did Quinny, to a degree); not the most spectacular players but solid leaders who weren't afraid to let the lads know what they needed to do on the pitch.

Always be hopeful, najin - sooner or later we'll be playing top flight football again.

Up the Blades!

It was a pretty good match - until they drew even in the closing minutes. :(  Ref was *&%$, however . . .

"I have stated before that the club needs to act differently and David is young, has a great pedigree and will bring a new vision and leadership to the club."

I he does.  The Blades need a change of management and direction.  Their players have talent but don't seem to be working together as a team very well.  Or at least that is my opinion from the matches I have listened to.

The club has had many changes in management over the last six years - let's hope this one works.
For a long time, I dismissed the complaints from supporters that the problem was coming from the top (McCabe), but I'm beginning to think that is a larger part of the picture.  That it took them so long to find a new manager - and that three of their "finalists" basically laughed in their face - tells a story.  I'm not sure exactly what tale it's telling, but it has less to do with the players than the upper management of the club.

That said - I offer full support for the new gaffer and the belief that this season we will - indeed - go up!

COYRAWW!
