Boggles the mind... it really does.  See your country represented?  What do you think of the costume?  :D

XB - that is an extremely kind way of saying it.  You are a better person than I am, for certain!!

I think someone forgot to tell Miss Portugal that they didn't ACTUALLY mean 'national costume' (she looks very sweet).

Miss USA should be arrested for flag desecration.

I do admire Miss Canada having the guts to wear a teepee with a giant tongue snaking toward her lady bits.  Especially since the out fit makes her look like a tree stump.

Don't get me started on MISS contests! No self respecting woman should ever want to be in one! And the Dutch of course, excel in stupidity. What IS she wearing on her head? A ship? Yuck ..........

I'm sorry, this one isn'tthe typical suit of españa, in spain there're 52 regions, every region has his own typical suit, this's the typical suit of andalucía, the suit that is known in the whole world, but this one isn't the suit that it represents spain, of course, it's a beautiful suit, and very difficult to wear, and of course, dance flamenco wearing it

I had dinner with some Singaporean friends & my brother last night (for the mid-Autumn festival) and the topic of conversation was why Miss Singapore was wearing a rug.  :P

Did the creators of these costumes actually think that they would look good or flatter the women?

It's amazing what some people think passes for flattering! I get that they want to show their nation but some of it is just so stereotypical.

Grrrrr....lol

Most of them look like something you'd see in a stripper club owned by Jabba the Hutt.

The thing is, in my opinion, that the National Costume is a heritage from old times and should not be altered. The dresses shown is not National Costumes. This is the Swedish National Costume :

Of course there is variations on the same theme :)
