I wouldn't worry about what the critics are saying about this film. They always blast the kiddie films that have to have over-the-top performers, gaudy costumes, slapstick comedy, pratfalls and pranks, loud, bombastic villains and a bit of catchy music in order to hold the attention of today's kids. The critics are NOT the intended audience and the intended audience seems to be quite happy with it. I'm sure ticket sales and the gazillions made on merchandising will just inflame the critics even more. They all seem so nasty these days, as if they don't want anyone, of any age, to simply be entertained. Films like these will never rack up much in awards outside of the Kids Choice Awards. Sean seems to be quite happy with the end product as did all those ordinary people who have been asked for their opinions on exiting the theater after seeing it. I'm much happier at the thought that little girls might want to emulate this particular plucky Snow White than Bella and all her fellow Twilight emo robots.
As for Sean being in films that critics love, what about Cleanskin? The majority loved it and yet it wasn't anything near what you could call successful at the box office. Same for Cash, Age of Heroes, Red Riding...he's never been arsed about the critics before, why worry now and I tend to agree with him. Everyone who can blog thinks they're a critic these days. Critics have been become reduncant and I could care less if they simply entered the ranks of the unemployed, ALL of them.
