THE LORD OF THE RINGS Cast Is Reuniting for an Important Quest
Quote
The Fellowship is coming together once again. This time The Lord of the Rings crew has a slightly less important quest than getting the ring to Mordor. But only slightly. They’re reuniting thanks to Josh Gad’s Reunited Apart series, and we feel blessed. This crew came together for an epic journey for The Lord of the Rings films in the early 2000s, and we’ve missed them dearly. Gad released a trailer for the upcoming reunion, and it’s full of exactly the kind of charm we were hoping for. Honestly, hearing Ian McKellen speak a Gandalf line again has us enchanted.

This spectacular Lord of the Rings reunion is taking place Sunday, May 31, at 9:00am PT/12:00pm ET on Josh Gad’s YouTube channel. As the trailer indicates, we can expect to see Sam (Sean Astin), Frodo (Elijah Wood), Merry (Dominic Monaghan), Pippin (Billy Boyd), Legolas (Orlando Bloom), and Gandalf himself (Sir Ian McKellen). Gad mentions surprises, and Monaghan has kind of spilled the beans already. He posted this capture on Instagram Wednesday:

Now that’s a line-up. In addition the folks above, we spot Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Boromir (Sean Bean), Gollum (Andy Serkis), Eomer (Karl Urban), Eowyn (Miranda Otto), Gimli (John Rhys-Davies), and Arwen (Liv Tyler). Director Peter Jackson appears too, along with writer Philippa Boyens. Wow!
Just from the trailer alone, it’s easy to see the cast still has a lovely dynamic. Hearing them reminisce about their time filming will be an absolute delight. And let’s be honest, it will probably having us digging out our extended edition copies of the trilogy and rewatching

The Lord of the Rings cast reunites, shows off their matching tattoos, and raises over $47K for charity
Quote
The Lord of the Rings cast reunited for charity and discussed the legacy of their hit trilogy on Josh Gad's Reunited Apart webseries, which started streaming Sunday.
The 50-minute special - technically taped 'a week ago' - was the first time fans got to see this much of the talented ensemble back together since 2003.
To break the ice, the 39-year-old Grammy winner asked that the members of the fellowship unveil their matching tattoos of the word 'nine' in Elvish.

Josh's reunion garnered over 111K views and has already raised over $47K for the nonprofit charity Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign.
Jackson's critically-acclaimed, beloved film trilogy (2001-2003) was based on the iconic books (1954-1955) by J. R. R. Tolkien.
In total, the three films scored 17 Academy Awards and amassed $2.981B at the global box office as well as spawning the prequel Hobbit trilogy.

Sean Bean’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ Meme Has a Secret Backstory
Quote
Sean Bean‘s Lord of the Rings speech is plastered all over the internet. Even if you haven’t seen a single film in the fantasy franchise, it’s likely that you’ve come across Boromir’s iconic “one does not simply walk into Mordor” monologue at least once. But the famous meme has an unlikely backstory, which director Peter Jackson revealed this weekend on Josh Gad‘s Reunited Apart series, Huffington Post reports.
The story behind Bean’s speech was explained when the Lord of the Rings cast came together again after nearly two decades for One Zoom to Rule Them All, a virtual reunion on May 31. Gad asked Bean to recreate his famous line for the fans and he obliged, but Jackson followed up with some trivia about the scene. The lines that are so ubiquitous on the internet now were whipped up the night before filming, he revealed.

“That entire speech that Sean had to deliver at the Council of Elrond was written the night before. It’s long, and we gave it to Sean in the morning he arrived,” Jackson explained. Thankfully, Bean had a clever workaround for reciting the speech that he hadn’t gotten to memorize.
“What Sean did, which I thought was very clever, is he got a printout of the speech taped to his knee,” Jackson said. “If you watch the scene now you’ll see every time that Sean has to check his script.” The director then imitated Bean, dipping his head under his hand and pretending to glance at a concealed script, much to the delight of the cast.
Along with Bean and Jackson, Gad also had Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Orlando Bloom, Viggo Mortensen, John Rhys-Davies, Liv Tyler, Andy Serkis, Hugo Weaving, Miranda Otto, Karl Urban and Sir Ian McKellen on for his virtual reunion last weekend. Each of Gad’s Reunited Apart episodes raises money for a different charity, and Sunday’s event raised money for No Kid Hungry.
