'Game of Thrones' prequel 'House of the Dragon' gets its first teaser trailer
Quote
We're inching ever-closer to 2022, meaning that the next instalment in the 'Game of Thrones' TV series is just around the corner.
HBO has teased fans with the first look at 'House of the Dragon', dropping an unexpected trailer for the series earlier this morning.

From what we can see from the one minute and seven seconds of footage below, Matt Smith's Prince Daemon Targaryen will be the main character, channelling major Sean Bean/Ed Stark energy (but will likely survive the first season).

The dramatic footage also shows off first-look action set pieces, the iconic Iron Throne (with some extra spikes thrown in), as well as glimpses of Smith's co-stars; Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Steve Toussaint's Lord Corlys Velaryon, and Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower. Paddy Considine's King Viserys Targaryen is also shown briefly.

Narrating over the footage, Daemon Targaryen says: "Gods. Kings. Fire. And blood. Dreams didn’t make us kings, dragons did."

Check out the first 'House of the Dragon' trailer below.

New cast members for the series were also announced to go along with the teaser. Wil Johnson will play Ser Vaemond Velaryon, John Macmillan as Ser Laenor Velaryon, Savannah Steyn as Lady Laena Velayron, and Theo Nate has been cast as Ser Laenor Velaryon. Rhys Ifans is also part of the ensemble as Otto Hightower.

George R.R. Martin’s 'Fire & Blood' is the inspiration for this prequel series, which will take place 200 years before the original eight seasons 'Game of Thrones', following the reign of King Viserys Targaryen, the first monarch to rule after the death of King Jaehaerys.

'House of the Dragon' has a 2022 release date attached. In Ireland and the UK, the series will launch on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW. The trailer was shown as part of WarnerMedia’s HBO Max European launch event.
