Accused: The Eyes Of Those Accused

ACCUSED is based on the BBC’s BAFTA-winning crime anthology, in which each episode opens in a courtroom on the accused without knowing their crime or how they ended up on trial, the drama is told from the defendant’s point of view. I was even more impressed by “Robyn’s Story,” directed by Pose Emmy winner Billy Porter, starring J. Harrison Ghee (currently knocking them dead in Broadway’s Some Like It Hot) in the cautionary tale of a Boston teacher who moonlights as a drag queen and faces ruin after getting involved with a closeted man who’s got his own secrets. Though marred somewhat by a pat ending, this hour is compelling and compassionate

 Accused, based on the 2010 British anthology series of the same name, comes from TV producer Howard Gordon, of 24 and Homeland fame. He revealed how the new iteration of "Robyn's Story," written by Daniel Pearle, improved upon Sean Bean's episode 13 years later.

Billy Porter demands respect for drag queens with Fox's 'Accused': 'Drag is not perverse'

"Robyn's Story" is loosely based on an episode of the original BBC series, which starred "Game of Thrones" actor Sean Bean as a cross-dressing character.

"The version of the British series is embarrassing," Porter says. "It's everything that we hate as queer people: Straight people telling our story." But with this new adaptation, he saw an opportunity to "tell a story about our underserved community with truth and authenticity."
