It is amazing that all that gold was unearthed there!  Wouldn't it have been great to be in on the discovery?  Not because of the monetary reward (although that would be nice) but because of the historical significance.  I imagine that some archeologists go through their whole lives without finding any treasure,  much less a giant haul like this.

Wow.  This is going to rewrite a lot of what we commonly hold true of the period.

I probably would have keeled over and died if I'd found something like it . . . what a spectacular find!

It's already cleaned up and on display in a museum in Birmingham. Looks amazingly in tact and intricate for it's time. Sales of metal detectors about to soar through the roof!

I saw this on another site. The pictures of these things really amaze me. They are so well preserved. I wonder how close to the surface they were? If they were found in a field its surprising they don't have any damage from the ground being plowed.
